Mizzou has made a concerted effort to recruit players from the state of Texas, shown by the fact that it is the second-most represented state on the Mizzou roster, behind only Missouri.

Kansas City Chiefs president Mark Donovan called head coach Andy Reid the "secret weapon," in getting BYU to commit to playing a football game at Arrowhead Stadium against the Missouri Tigers in on November 14, 2015. The Tigers will then travel to Provo, UT for a road game in 2020. Reid played football at BYU with current A.D. Tom Holmoe and of course was an assistant coach at Missouri back in the day.
