It's Thursday, and Mizzou plays tomorrow with a berth in the SEC Championship on the line. For that, we are very thankful.

Pregamin' Arky

WHO: Missouri Tigers vs. Arkansas Razorbacks

WHAT: THE BATTLE LINE RIVALRY BROUGHT TO YOU BY SHELTER INSURANCE™

WHEN: Black Friday, November 28 – 1:30pm CT

WHERE: THE ZOU (but not a real zoo because a real zoo would never house tigers and razorbacks together that would just be silly)

TELEVISION: CBS

Trivia

(of the useless variety)

  • Originally, the Arkansas football team went by the Cardinals. They changed to the Razorbacks after a few years.
  • Arkansas was one of the 173 school that Lou Holtz coached at.
  • Bobby Petrino.
  • The Razorbacks have two home stadiums: Donald W. Reynolds Stadium in Fayetteville, and War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.
  • When it was first built in 1938, Donald W. Reynolds was dedicated to then governor Carl E. Bailey. Bailey lost the following election, and the stadium was renamed "Razorback Stadium."

Q&A

Who do you hope to see more from against Arkansas?

The Beef: I think it is going to be hugely important for the interior linemen to be able to shed their blocks and make a number of tackles in the run game.  I am concerned about their ability to run the ball and while I think Brothers and Scherer have been pretty decent against the run, we still play them back off the line just a bit to help in coverage looks.  If the interior of the line is not slowing those RBs down at the point of attack, I could see a death by 1,000 knives, with each knife being 4-5 yard runs.

Switzy227: Pretty much has to Andrew Baggett here. The FG miss was yet another kick he never should have been asked to make, but the 2 PAT misses are not acceptable. We will need every point possible to win Friday, and that means not having to sweat the easy ones. Make it happen, Andrew.

Sam Snelling: I hope to see a LOT of the front seven for Mizzou SHUTTING DOWN Arky's offense. Cover the Tight Ends!

HHKB Chris: Hey, Baggs, yeah, you, the guy kicking the ball....let's make sure to put that oblong ball made of pigskin through that big yellow H.

Jack Peglow: Tackling in the secondary. Mizzou's gonna need that tomorrow, so let's see some effort, boys.

Fullback U: The running backs busting huge gains all over Arky's defense in a tremendous homage to Tony Temple.

AlaTiger: The SLB duo. They will probably see the field a lot more against Arkansas, and they need to perform well.

What group (O-line, D-line, coaches, etc.) do you hope to see a better performance from?

Beef: I need to see our O-line calm the hell down and wait for the ball to be snapped.  When your offense is not consistent, those 5 yard penalties really short circuit stuff quickly.  They have their best game of the year, and I think we should be well on our way to a win.

Switzy: Receivers. Specifically, we need a game devoid of dropped passes and mis-run routes. Things shaped up nicely by the end last week; let's start at that point this week.

Snelling: I'll take OFFENSIVE LINE. BLOCK YOU GUYS... BLOCK!

Chris: Hey big guys with the jersey numbers in the 60s and 70s, yeah the blocking guys...let's try and settle down a wee bit? Less jumping early, you're at home, Maty's not trying to f with your head, just move the ball does, not before. You'll be a-ok, I just know it!

Peglow: Less offensive penalties as a whole, but specifically along the line. Digging holes is fun, this I know, but let's try not to get too far underground this time, okay?

Fullback: The special teams. It'd be nice to have positive field position for this game specifically.

AlaTiger: The O-line needs to play extremely well and quit with the penalties.

Give us one WILD prediction for tomorrow's game.

Beef: Brinser has two punts over 50 yards (am running out of crazy predictions)

Switzy: I don't know what the over/under line is for this game, but I predict that it is passed by more than 2 touchdowns.

Snelling: Mizzou wins on a pick 6.

Chris: Maty throws for a TD and runs one in, I know WILD!!!

Peglow: This game's leading rusher will be wearing black and gold, not red and white.

Fullback: Zero offensive line false starts.

AlaTiger: Baggett has a nearly perfect game.

Where do you stand on the status of this rivalry?

Beef: Getting there…excited to see where it is in a few years.

Switzy: If I squint just so, Bret Bielema looks almost exactly like Suitcase Mike Anderson. So it's full-fledged.

Snelling: BURN FAYETTEVILLE. (not really - I think it's got good possibility to grow into a healthy heated rivalry)

Chris: Just thinking about Arkansas, Mike Anderson, and they're silly red uniforms with abnormally small logo just makes me want to burn that mother down...Pookie, let's burn that mother down, burn that mother down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Peglow: Proximity is there, which is nice. Basketball has helped build it up, too. If this game is heated, that might just be the kick in the pants Shelter Insurance needs to really get this thing off the ground.

Fullback: We've always been at war with Arkansas

AlaTiger: It's a game that should logically turn into one. There's more heat and history on the basketball side.

If you could invite one current/former Tiger to your Thanksgiving Dinner, who would it be and why?

Beef: Max Scherzer…dude is about to get paid and I’d love to believe he would pick up the tab on the dinner….and some house renovations…maybe a vacation.

Switzy: I'd invite any one of the senior walk-ons or backups who doesn't get a lot of playing time. And I'd thank them for their hard work and dedication to the program that often goes unnoticed.

Snelling: Does Kim Anderson count? I'd like to ask him why he didn't hire me.

Chris: I'd invite Gary P over, and then we'd go glass for glass on the wine, winner gets to call the first play in the bowl game.

Peglow: SPOOOOOOOOOOOON. Mainly because he's entertaining as hell, and is one of my favorite players still to this day. Also, this:

SPOOOOOON

Fullback: Brad Smith. He's the guy who kick started my Mizzou fandom and I'd like to personally thank him.

AlaTiger: Boehm seems like a fun guy to have around, although there might not be any leftovers.

Any other thoughts?

Switzy: MIZ!

Snelling: BATTLE LINE (presented by All State*) should be fun, at least as much fun as this whole weird season has been. Being the last (regular season) game of the year, I expect both teams to come out playing hard. And I think it might take some time to get the offense going. If I'm worried about one thing it's that Arkansas has been playing so well and their confidence is high. They'll have to do it on the road, and Missouri hasn't exactly been lights out at home either. So, in other words, as with the rest of the season to this point: I've no idea.

Peglow: Y'all, this game is going to be so aesthetically pleasing to watch. I don't think this fact is getting enough recognition. Black on black vs. red on red. I'm drooling just thinking about it, and the turkey in the oven has nothing to do with that.

Fullback: Please oh please don't make me listen to Woo Pig Sooie in person on Friday.

AlaTiger: Play a complete game in all phases, and you'll win, Tigers.
