After Mizzou's 78-73 win over Elon last night, Keith Shamburger (who has also developed an amusing nickname of his own), was asked about D'Angelo Allen's career high 12 points and 7 rebounds which played a significant role in staving off a furious, second half comeback.
Shamburger lets it slip that D'Angelo Allen's nickname is "Fat Boy," but he seems to embrace it.

Allen provided a spark with several key rebounds and put back buckets, including this incredibly lucky one off a missed Deuce Bello three pointer.
I should probably remind folks that D'Angelo Allen was listed at 6'6", 190 pounds on many recruiting sites, but according to MUTigers.com, he's currently 6'7" and 220 pounds. When Allen committed to Mizzou, he struck many as needing to put on weight in order to compete at the D-1 level, but I don't think the coaches meant thirty pounds of fat. Regardless, he still looks relatively slim out on the basketball court, particularly next to the muscular 6'9", 225 pound Johnathan Williams III.
This revelation immediately made me think of of one of my favorite turn of the millennium songs, Fat Boy Slim's "Weapon of Choice" featuring Christopher Walken whimsically dancing through an abandoned hotel lobby.
And because I can't help myself, here is D'Angelo "Fat Boy" Allen as Christopher Walken dancing to Fatboy Slim's Weapon of Choice:
