Mizzou Links, 4-21-14: A softball sweep, a coaching search, and baked eggs

Your weekend MVPs: Tori Finucane, Maty Mauk, Mackenzie Sykes, Jess Meek, Eric Anderson, and Natalie Fleming.Mizzou Softball sweeps Ole Miss to move into second in the SEC, Mizzou Baseball suffers a frustrating sweep to Mississippi State (with two extra-inning losses), and the Mizzou Basketball coaching search enters Day 4.

The Beef

We've got all sorts of basketball and football pieces coming up shortly -- seriously, Frank Haith, you couldn't have left a week ago? -- so for now let's focus on the Mizzou weekend on the diamond(s). One diamond was more friendly than the other.

1. #StubbleSweep

Since losing in extra innings in the rubber match against Kentucky back on March 15, Mizzou has won 10 of 12 SEC games and has moved into a tie for second in the conference (with Kentucky and Tennessee) at 12-6, three games behind Alabama. After a Wednesday game against Missouri State, the Stubbles head to Gainesville (11-7 in conference) for three games. Next week, it's a doubleheader against Creighton, then a three-game series against first-place Alabama. So technically first place is still well within reach with a couple of great weekends, but ... this is one hell of a pair of series with which to finish conference play.
