Mizzou Links, 5-22-14: A hello to Eddie Heard, Jr., and another hello to Tim Jamieson

New, comments

Missouri adds JUCO transfer Eddie Heard, Jr., to its 2014 recruiting class, Namon Wright is officially a 2014 basketball signee (again), and Tim Jamieson gets one more year as Mizzou's baseball coach.

1. One more for the class of 2014

So this is fun: Mizzou just added another 2014 commitment. Eddie Heard, Jr., of Laney College (Cal.) committed to the Tigers over Oregon and Washington. His stats last year were not mind-blowing -- seven tackles for loss, four sacks -- so one probably shouldn't expect more than about four TFLs and two sacks from him this year, but Mizzou was a bit lacking from a depth perspective, and adding an upper-classman will take at least a little bit of pressure off of Charles Harris and Marcus Loud to succeed immediately.

Heard was apparently a qualifier out of high school but chose the JUCO route to raise his profile. If he was choosing between Mizzou, Oregon, and Washington, I'd say that gambit worked. Here's some film.
