The Connellys went to a family reunion gathering in HOT SPRINGS this weekend.

a) It was Mrs. Bill C's birthday on Saturday, so a happy belated (on here) birthday to her.

b) Hot Springs is an interesting place. Instead of good and bad, or new and decrepit parts of town, it's just all mixed in together. A nice, old hotel is basically right next to a pair of dead old hotels that are basically crumbling to the ground. New, trendy shops stand next to closed spaces and old-school places like wax museums and tiny aquariums. It's a zoning nightmare. Hot Springs is alive because it has all sorts of lovely natural gifts, and people will always come to ski and swim and play golf. But it's alive despite itself.

c) I'm starting a Kickstarter to fund a damn interstate from Columbia to Little Rock.

d) A lot of beautiful scenery is wasted on Arkansas.

Mike Sam
Fox Sports MW: Five encouraging signs from Rams OTAs

Sam is attempting to be the first openly gay player in NFL history. If OTAs are any indication, he has a very good shot at doing that. He held his own in OTAs while taking reps with the backup defensive linemen.

The seventh-round pick from Missouri isn't expected to make an immediate impact along the Rams' defensive line, the strength of their team. But he does look like a worthwhile prospect to develop as a pass rusher.

"He's working real hard," Fisher told FOXSportsMidwest.com before the final week of OTAs. "He's improving at his technique at the position. He takes to coaching well. We've seen improvement just over the last six OTAs."
