Sam to join Cowboys' practice squad : Sports

Sam was scheduled to fly into Dallas on Tuesday night, take a physical today, and sign with the Cowboys’ 10-man practice squad. Practice squad players practice with the team but can’t play in games. With several injuries on their defensive line, Dallas needs help. And with that in mind, Sam could work his way onto the team’s active roster before too long.

Bills player blames ESPN for Michael Sam being out of a job | Awful Announcing

Wood has a point, you know.  Before ESPN’s ShowerGate coverage, Sam was having a relatively quiet preseason when it comes to the media circus.  But with the hoopla brought last week right when roster cuts were being made, it could very conceivably lead already skittish NFL teams to close the door to Sam.

"All the crap that ESPN tries to come out with, talking about his showering habits, which was a bunch of crap by the way. I'm not sure which player would've said that," Moe told The Edmonds and McKernan Show on Tuesday.

Newlogo_medium Holy....! Gary Pinkel coached at Toledo?

PowerMizzou.com - Ho-hum homecoming

"I called Coach James then, I asked about taking most of the younger coaches, I want to take all these young coaches to Missouri," Pinkel said. "And I asked Don James and he said, 'Can they coach?' I said, yeah, what about recruiting areas? He said, 'Are they good recruiters?' I said, yeah. He said, 'Well, bring 'em. Take 'em. If they're good, do it.'

Once a Rocket, (almost) always a Rocket for Pinkel - Columbia Daily Tribune | Columbia Missouri: MU Football

After coaching at Toledo from 1991-2000 and amassing a 73-37-3 record to become the program’s winningest coach, Gary Pinkel has a soft spot for the Mid-American Conference school.

Ely, a junior, was 24-of-34 passing for 337 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions Saturday in Toledo's 54-20 win over New Hampshire.

"He’s done a nice job of distributing the football and having the ability to know, based on coverages and formations, where we want to get the ball and how we want to get it there," Campbell said. "That’s something we work really hard on, and part of the reason he won the job for us is his ability to make great decisions with the football in his hand."

Not only was it Ely's Toledo debut, it also marked his first college game experience of any real significance. He started his career at Alabama, where he redshirted in 2011. He was a backup to AJ McCarron in 2012 and completed 3 of 4 passes. He sat out last season following his transfer.

"I’m very impressed with his moxie in the pocket," MU defensive coordinator Dave Steckel said.
