Mizzou Links: Mauk as player of the week, Murphy as difference maker

Mizzou-Indiana will kick off at 3 p.m. CT at Faurot Field, Maty Mauk is the SEC's offensive player of the week after his five-touchdown performance against Toledo, Marcus Murphy is a play-maker, and Bud Sasser is cluuuuuuuutch.

As you can see, the three-wide, tight-end attached set remains a very run-heavy one for the Tigers. This week, it yielded 22 runs, four passes and a sack. Last week, it was 14 runs and five passes. So Missouri is running nearly 80 percent of the time when it lines up in that set. The balance in the four-wide is better and represents better what direction the play calling is going that day. As, you know, it should, being their most-used set.

Murphy's a little closer to that "50 plays in 75 snaps" threshold Pinkel was talking about. This week it was 40 in 80, or half. He's still primarily being used in the backfield (65 back there as opposed to nine in the slot for the season). I imagine it will remain that way as long as Morgan Steward is out.
