Barry Odom is still attempting to fill his coaching staff, but this weekend represented his last in-person recruiting opportunity in a while. The Tigers hosted a handful of current commits and one big uncommitted defender: DE/OLB Marvin Terry of Dallas' South Oak Cliff high school.
Terry is a four-star recruit per the 247 Composite and a high three-star via Rivals. He lists offers from Arkansas, California, Colorado, Louisville, Miami, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon, TCU, Texas Tech, UCLA, and Wisconsin, and he is now a Mizzou commit.
"Terry is a speed guy off the edge. He's played some linebacker, but he's been most effective as a defensive end," [Rivals mid-south recruiting analyst Jason] Howell said. "Whether he is coming out of a two point stance or four point or a three point…whatever he's coming out of he does a great job of getting that outside edge, cutting the edge and getting pressure in the backfield."
Here's his Hudl film:
The competition is overmatched, but Terry clearly has a nice first step and finishes tackles well. At 6'2, 222, he could fill out a bit and become a defensive end or fill out a little and become a Donavin Newsom-style OLB. Regardless, Odom has scored a versatile weapon.
Mizzou also scored a reaffirmed commitment from linebacker commit Trey Baldwin, who might have my favorite film in the current commit list.
