An email exchange between Missouri Softball Head Coach Ehren Earleywine and Missouri State Head Softball coach Holly Hesse shows negotiations for a 2016 game between the two schools going every so slightly off the rails. As reported by Kate Fagan of espnW, Hesse can be seen declining the opportunity to schedule a future game with the Tigers. Earleywine, angered by the manner with which Hesse refused, fires back a sharp retort. The following quote from Chad Moller, a media relations official at Missouri, comes via Fagan's article.
I am sincerely sorry for the unprofessional comments I made. I understand that is not the right way to represent the University of Missouri, and serving as a role model and a positive example for our students is very important. I apologize to Coach Hesse, the Missouri State softball program and our fans for the way I reacted and know this was not the proper way to handle the situation.
You can peruse the entirety of the exchange between Earleywine, Hesse, and Missouri Director of Operations Lisa Simmons in the article.
