MUtigers.com: Conference Schedule Offers Exciting Opportunity for Mizzou Men's Basketball

The Southeastern Conference announced the Mizzou Men's Basketball 2016 league schedule live on SEC Network Wednesday night, with the 18-game slate bringing exciting competition to Mizzou Arena through the months of January, February and March.

Head coach Kim Anderson's squad faces three of the SEC's five 2015 NCAA Tournament teams twice, with road matchups against the remaining two (at Kentucky, Jan. 27, 2016; at LSU, March 1, 2016).

"We once again have an exciting and challenging SEC schedule," Anderson said. "Our first order of business is to continue to grow and develop in the non-conference portion of the schedule, and then carry that over to an always-tough SEC slate. We are looking forward to getting started next week as school begins on Monday."

The Trib: Tigers will play 16 of 18 conference games on SEC Network

Missouri is getting a later start to the conference schedule than most of its league brethren, tipping off its league season on Jan. 6 at Georgia. The 10 SEC teams chosen to take part in the third annual Big 12/SEC Challenge, scheduled for Jan. 30, will open league play on Jan. 2.

Georgia is one of five teams the Tigers will play both home and away, along with South Carolina and permanent rivals Arkansas, Mississippi and Texas A&M.

Auburn leads off the list of foes which Missouri will face only at Mizzou Arena, coming to Columbia on Jan. 9. The others are Mississippi State, Tennessee and Florida, which wraps up the league season on March 9 at Mizzou Arena.
