The recruiting dead period is over, and now Missouri's Barry Odom and his staff are pounding the recruiting trail and looking to bolster the 2016 class.
A few names didn't make my list below because I don't get the sense they are realistic targets or I don't believe they're liable to flip from their current commitment. That's obviously subject to change and the next few weeks will certainly be a roller coaster ride compared to the past 15 years under Gary Pinkel. I plan on updating this post as we gather more information so check back frequently!
2016 January Enrollees
Mizzou currently has 13 pledges to the 2016 recruiting class. We already know that offensive tackle Tyler Howell, kicker Tucker McCann, and linebacker Trey Baldwin are January enrollees. We're still not clear which recruiting class Tyler Howell fits into, he originally was part of the 2015 class but failed to qualify in the fall so I'm inclined to think he still counts as part of that class.
Natereace Strong and Greg Taylor, two ESL commits from a few years ago, are finally on their way to campus, providing much needed support in the offensive and defensive backfields.
For the purposes of this board we'll consider Tre'Vour Simms committed to Mizzou until we hear news to the contrary.
Mizzou has two highly rated commits at the defensive end positions in Tre Williams and Mavin Terry who was Barry Odom's first commit. Odom and staff will need to fend off any further defections from the recruits currently pledged this year which means holding on to the likes of Tre'Vour Simms, Royce Newman, and Trystan Castillo.
The theme of Mizzou's 2016 recruiting targets appears to be heavily focused on getting kids who can contribute right away. Wide receiver, offensive line and then best available athletes to fill select vacancies or positions the staff feel could need improvement like running back and defensive back. Odom is going to be under pressure to win early in 2016 and he can do that by flipping some high profile commits before National Signing day on February 3rd.
Note that between 12/13/15 and 1/13/16, admitted mid-year enrollees who have signed financial aid paperwork with the college are governed by contact period rules.
