Jimmy Whitt transferring from Arkansas

Source: Jimmy Whitt likely to transfer | Arkansas News

Whitt was the No. 77 player in the nation in the 2015 recruiting class, according to ESPN. A 6-foot-3, 170-pound shooting guard, he was childhood friends with Arkansas guard Manny Watkins when the two were in Columbia together. Now-Arkansas coach Mike Anderson was the coach of Missouri in that town with Watkins’ father, Melvin, an assistant on the Tigers staff. The two coaches came together to Arkansas in 2011. Whitt’s decision reportedly came down to Arkansas Missouri.

Sam Snelling tells us that Mizzou isn't really interested in Whitt because the Tigers need impact players who can contribute right away. Whitt would have to both sit out a year and lose an extra year of eligibility if he wanted to transfer within conference to Missouri.

UConn vs Kansas

1) When Connecticut makes the tournament they come to win. No disrespect to Kansas and their many accomplishments on the hardwood, but it’s just different when UCONN goes dancing. Since 2009, UCONN has reached the NCAA tournament five times including this season. In three of their five appearances, the Huskies have reached the final four in 2009, 2011 and 2014 respectively. While winning a national championship in two out of those three seasons (2011 and 2014).

2) The Huskies will make you pay at the line. When playing more talented teams, you have to make the opposing team pay on the boards and via the free throw line. Though Connecticut is a middle of the pack team as far as rebounding is concerned, as a team they lead the NCAA in free throw percentage at an impressive 78.5%. Free throw shooting can often times be the difference in a basketball game but especially in clutch moments like icing a game away.

3) UCONN’s guards always rise to the occasion in March. From AJ Price to Kemba Walker and even more recently Shabazz Napier, Connecticut guards just have a way of playing their best during postseason play. Fortunately this season is no difference.

During UCONN’s late season tourney push, which included their dramatic run that resulted in an American Conference championship, guards Rodney Purvis and Daniel Hamilton have taken their games to the next level. Hamilton led the huskies with 32 points during their epic four overtime victory versus Cincinnati. In previous tournaments guard play is what has lead teams to championships. If this holds true Connecticut is in great hands and should send the Jayhawks on a one-way ticket back to Kansas
