Missouri offers 8th grade QB Aaron McLaughlin because WE SEC NOW

Missouri was the first SEC school to offer the 6'4, 200 pound quarterback

Offering an 8th grader is news, this is the first time I'd heard of Missouri doing it. 14 year old Aaron McLaughlin, will be entering the 8th grade this fall. He told us assistant coach Joey Halzle spoke with him at the Trent Miles football camp on Wednesday and shortly after received the offer. His first offer came from Georgia State but he told Scout.com he's already visited Georgia, Texas A&M, UCLA and USC.

McLaughlin will enroll at North Gwinnett HS in Suwanee Georgia, the same school that sent 4 star wide receiver Nate Brown to Columbia. He told me he knows Mizzou as a very good program that has "a great new offensive coordinator [Josh Heupel]." He told me the Tigers' offer stood out because they were one of the first colleges to be interested and take the time to talk to him.

Armstrong earns offer

Jafar Armstrong, a 6'1, 185 three star wide receiver from Bishop Miege in Shawnee Mission, KS camped with Mizzou recently and spoke with PowerMizzou ($$) about how he had hoped for a Mizzou offer.

He also seemed intrigued by the prospect of playing alongside Mizzou commit DaRon Davis.

Speaking of Davis, I spoke to him yesterday and he told me that due to Jeremy Maclin's time restraints, Davis would be training with his father. Davis recently picked up a 4th star after an impressive showing at the Rivals 5 star challenge.

Another target, offensive lineman Marquis Hayes, also picked up a 4th star. The #8 offensive guard in the country told me his last planned camp will be the Rivals 100 this Saturday. He currently holds offers from Illinois, Minnesota and Iowa State but said he's still waiting to see what happens with regards to new offers. I spoke to him after Mizzou's spring game and he told me then he would likely wait to commit after his senior year.

2018 offeree models game on Jeremy Maclin, naturally

The 6'1, 175 receiver from Christian Brothers College in St. Louis told Today's U he had been hoping for an offer from the in-state school for a while.

In fact, not only has Brown followed Missouri for quite some time, the play-making receiver aspired to play just like one particular former Tiger who is now starring in the NFL, a location Brown would like to see himself in half a decade.

"When I was younger, I used to watch Jeremy Maclin and them play," he said. "That’s who I modeled my game [after] and who I wanted to be like."

Tigers pushing into the heart of Chicago

Verdis Brown, a 6'4, 290 pound offensive guard from Mount Carmel in Illinois, also saw an offer after a Mizzou camp. Missouri has just landed a commitment from Lemont TE Logan Christopherson and it appears the Tigers are trying to expand into the talent-rich city. Brown already had an offer from Illinois and just picked up one from Purdue.

And because 2018 St. Louis DT Trevor Trout felt the need to tweet this, I'll include it:

2019 QB picks up offer

2021 is five years away, which is why the Missouri staff saw fit to offer a QB closer to home in St. Louis' Isaiah Williams.

Williams, was a freshman all-conference QB for Trinity Catholic HS in St. Louis but worked out at receiver for Mizzou's St. Louis camp. He plays for the same school as 2017 offensive line target Larry Boyd who attended a recent Illinois camp. Williams has already attended Junior Day in Columbia. It's clear that clear Cornell Ford felt it was important to get in on the talented athlete who already has offers from Iowa State, Memphis and Illinois.

When discussing his offer, he told PowerMizzou, "I absolutely love their program"
