PowerMizzou: Mizzou seeing 2 at quarterback

Zanders' development may throw the most unique wrinkle into Missouri's season, adding a level of deception that was never used under Gary Pinkel. If Missouri used two quarterbacks in a game, more often than not it was to get a younger quarterback -- the heir apparent -- some meaningful snaps to prepare for the following season. Averse to creating any type of quarterback controversy, Pinkel never alternated quarterbacks situationally.

"We've talked a lot about (Zanders') role, just playing the quarterback spot," Barry Odom said. "Really, for us to be a really good running football team, the quarterback run game is going to have to be a part of that. Whether it's Drew or Marvin, whoever is playing quarterback at that time, they've got to have the ability that we're able to get some running yards out of the quarterback, and Marvin has some elusiveness to him and as the skill set that would provide that. He's also playing really well in just drop-back passing the ball, too."
