2018 Louisiana defensive end Josh Smith commits to Missouri
We didn't really have Smith on our radar and this commitment feels pretty out of the blue - PowerMizzou is still trying to confirm that he has a committable offer. Smith would join 2018 DL Daniel Parker who committed last Sunday.
You can check out the rest of our recruiting hot board below. Obviously we don't have a very clear picture of the 2018 class but we do know some of the bigger names and attempted to slot them in. His commitment seems especially odd given the sheer number of local Missouri defense of lineman notably Trevor Trout, Ronnie Perkins and Michael Thompson plus Chicago area Verdis Brown who could be highly sought after targets in the 2018 class.
Well, it wouldn't be a surprise if we knew it was coming. Right!?

Post-Dispatch - Mizzou's Tori Finucane transfers to Minnesota
Finucane is the second pitcher to leave Mizzou's program in recent weeks, following Paige Lowary, the team’s top starter in 2016, who transferred to Oklahoma last month. Lowary was 25-8 this season and started all of MU’s NCAA regional and super regional games. Their departure leaves the Tigers with returning pitchers Danielle Baumgartner (14-4, 1.98 ERA in 2016) and Cheyenne Baxter (3-1, 3.46). Freshman Parker Conrad of Winter Park, Fla., will join the team for the 2017 season.
Seems strange for an incredibly stable program with an entrenched head coach.

SB Nation - Coaches responded to an NCAA rule change by retweeting recruits hundreds of times
The NCAA’s new rule allowing coaches to retweet and share social media posts by prospects, enacted under the guise of "confirming a prospect’s recruitment," took effect at midnight Monday.
We’ve already sought to explain the exact motive and mechanics behind the rule change, and we've talked to folks this policy change impacts. It’s complicated, and the resulting actions figure to vary by staff and school.
Some coaches are taking fuller advantage of this than others, it would seem.

This is going to be the dumbest thing.
