The new game notes and depth charts are out (pdf)! There have been only a couple of peripheral changes, but let’s take a look. (Click to enlarge.)

Offense
Quarterback
- Drew Lock (6’4, 220, So.) -- 23-for-51 (45%), 280 yards, 1 TD, 1 sack (5.2 yards per attempt; 8 non-sack carries, 38 yards (4.8 per carry)
- Marvin Zanders (6’1, 200, So.) — 1-for-2, 2 yards; 7 carries, 47 yards (6.7 per carry)
No changes here, and none were expected. It will be interesting to see how Zanders is used going forward (just as it was interesting on Saturday), but Lock’s obviously going to still be the man.
Tailback
- Alex Ross (6’1, 220, Sr.) — 18 carries, 67 yards (3.7); 1 catch, 3 yards OR
- Ish Witter (5’10, 200, Jr.) — 10 carries, 32 yards (3.2)
Ross, Witter, and presumably Damarea Crockett should find some more running lanes against EMU on Saturday. Let’s see what they do with them.
Wide Receiver
- J’Mon Moore (6’3, 205, Jr.) -- 8 catches, 104 yards
- Keyon Dilosa (6’3, 205, So.) -- 1 catch, 2 yards
Wide Receiver
- Johnathan Johnson (5’10, 185, RSFr.) — 1 catch, 6 yards OR
- Chris Black (6’0, 190, Sr.) — 6 catches, 102 yards, 1 TD OR
- Ray Wingo (5’11, 185, So.) — 1 catch, 1 yard
Wide Receiver
- Emanuel Hall (6’3, 205, So.) — 2 catches, 8 yards
- Dimetrios Mason (6’0, 185, Fr.) -- 1 catch, 7 yards
One slight change: Dilosa is listed as Moore’s backup instead of Dominic Collins. And the slot receiver position is still a three-way "OR" battle despite Chris Black’s huge day in Morgantown.
Tight End
- Sean Culkin (6’6, 250, Sr.) — 2 catches, 27 yards
- Jason Reese (6’5, 250, Jr.) OR
- Kendall Blanton (6’6, 260, So.)
No changes.
Left Tackle
- Tyler Howell (6’8, 320, Jr.)
- Kyle Mitchell (6’5, 330, So.)
Left Guard
- Kevin Pendleton (6’4, 335, So.)
- Trystan Castillo (6’4, 320, Fr.)
Center
- Samson Bailey (6’4, 295, So.)
- Michael Stannard (6’2, 290, Sr.) OR
- Jonah Dubinski (6’2, 290, RSFr.)
Right Guard
- Alec Abeln (6’3, 305, Jr.)
- Adam Ploudre (6’4, 315, Jr.)
Right Tackle
- Paul Adams (6’6, 315, So.)
- Tre’Vour Simms (6’5, 350, Fr.)
No changes up front, either.
Defense
Defensive End
- Jordan Harold (6’2, 265, Jr.) OR
- Spencer Williams (6’3, 250, So.) -- 5.5 tackles
Defensive End
- Charles Harris (6’3, 260, Jr.) -- 2.0 tackles
- Marcell Frazier (6’5, 260, Jr.) -- 1.5 tackles, 1 FR
Harold and Williams are now listed as co-starters. I was curious whether Harold would remain on top after a mostly invisible day against WVU. Williams wasn’t disruptive, but he was around the ball quite a bit.
Meanwhile, here’s to hoping Charles Harris reads every single press clipping this week. Maybe it’ll light a fire.
Defensive Tackle
- Rickey Hatley (6’4, 320, Sr.) — 3.0 tackles OR
- Terry Beckner Jr. (6’4, 290, So.) — 3.0 tackles
Defensive Tackle
- A.J. Logan (6’2, 325, Jr.) — 2.5 tackles
- Josh Augusta (6’4, 355, Sr.) — 2.0 tackles (1 TFL)
Hatley and Beckner are also now co-starters.
Linebacker
- Donavin Newsom (6’2, 240, Sr.) — 8.0 tackles
- Terez Hall (6’2, 225, So.) — 5.0 tackles, 1 TFL
Linebacker
- Michael Scherer (6’3, 235, Sr.) -- 10.0 tackles, 1 TFL
- Cale Garrett (6’3, 230, Fr.)
Linebacker
- Joey Burkett (6’2, 225, So.) -- 3.5 tackles, 1 TFL
- Brandon Lee (6’2, 225, So.) — 2.0 tackles, 1 TFL
No changes here.
Cornerback
- Aarion Penton (5’10, 195, Sr.) — 5.5 tackles, 1 INT
- Christian Holmes (6’1, 190, Fr.) OR
- DeMarkus Acy (6’2, 190, Fr.)
Cornerback
- John Gibson (6’0, 195, Sr.) -- 3.0 tackles
- Logan Cheadle (5’10, 180, Jr.) -- 0.0 tackles, 1 PBU
No changes. Apparently TJ Warren still isn’t back up to speed, which is disappointing.
Strong Safety
- Anthony Sherrils (6’0, 205, Jr.) — 6.5 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 INT
- Ronnell Perkins (6’0, 200, RSFr.) -- 2.0 tackles
Free Safety
- Thomas Wilson (5’10, 195, Jr.) -- 5.0 tackles
- Cam Hilton (6’0, 190, So.) -- 1.0 tackles
No changes.
Must Reads
Special Teams
Place-Kicker
- Tucker McCann (6’0, 195, Fr.) -- 1-2 FG under 40, 0-1 FG over 40
- Turner Adams (6’0, 205, Jr.)
I was curious about this position, for obvious reasons, but Barry Odom said he still had faith in McCann after the game, and he’s proving it.
(By the way, McCann’s kickoffs were almost as disappointing to me as the two missed field goals. He boomed the ball out of the back of the end zone with ease in the spring game, but neither of his Saturday kickoffs came all that close to the end zone. That puts massive pressure on the coverage unit.
Punter
- Corey Fatony (5’11, 205, So.) — 8 punts, 39.2 average, 3 inside 20
Current pace: 96 punts.
Kick Returns
- Alex Ross (6’1, 220, Sr.) — 1 KR, 23 yards
- Greg Taylor (5’10, 200, So.)
- Damarea Crockett (5’11, 220, Fr.) — 2 KR, 18.0 average
Punt Returns
- Johnathan Johnson (5’10, 185, RSFr.) — 1 PR, 2 yards AND
- Chris Black (6’0, 190, Sr.)
No changes here. In theory, we might see a few more punt return opportunities on Saturday, and we’ll see if Black gets a shot at some point.
