Missouri has released its depth chart and game notes for Saturday’s game against the Georgia Bulldogs.

Offense

Quarterback

  • Drew Lock (6’4, 225, Jr.) Last Week: 22-42, 355 yards, 3 TDs
  • Micah Wilson (6’3, 215, RSFr.) Last Week: 0—0
  • Jack Lowary (6’4, 225, So.)

Drew Lock started off rough on the first possession, missing an easy pass to Johnathon Johnson that would have picked up a first down, then fumbling to set up a Kentucky score. It got better from there.

Notably, Micah Wilson is now listed behind Lock instead of as an “OR” backup.

Running back

  • Damarea Crockett (5’11, 225, So.) Last Week: 12 — 74 yards, 1 fumble
  • Ish Witter (5’10, 200, Sr.) Last Week: 17 — 139, 3 catches — 24 yards
  • Larry Rountree (5’11, 215, Fr.) Last Week: 0 — 0

Ish Witter had a career day, both running and catching the ball, picking up tough yards and generally countering all the complaints Mizzou fans have lodged against him over the past few years. All hail the Ishbone offense? Or is that Ishful thinking?

Crockett probably could have had more carries — either him or Rountree — but Witter was having such success it was hard to argue for going away from the hot-hand.

Receiving corps

X-WR:

  • J’Mon Moore (6’3, 205, Sr.) Last Week: 7 catches/ 9 targets — 86 yards, 1 TD
  • Dominic Collins (6’2, 185, Sr.) Last Week: 0/1

Moore’s 50-yard touchdown pass was a spectacular throw from Lock.

By now you’ve probably seen the controversial end-of-game play, where a Kentucky defender knocked the ball out of Moore’s hand — which should have been a delay of game penalty. And perhaps you’ve seen the SEC’s official non-apology apology.

Moore played pretty damn well in my opinion, and it was interesting to see how many people on Twitter immediately jumped on him for screwing up the end of the game — then backtracked once they saw the replay.

Y-WR:

  • Emanuel Hall (6’3, 200, Jr.) Last Week: 4/8 — 129, 1 TD
  • Nate Brown (6’3, 210, R-Jr.) Last Week: 0 — 0

Emanuel hauled in a 58-yard touchdown pass...

...and had a 48-yard catch that set up Drew Lock’s one-yard touchdown run.

Someone tell me why he was behind Dimetrios Mason on the depth chart?

Slot:

  • Johnathon Johnson (5’10, 185, So.) Last Week: 6/12 — 97, 1 TD
  • Richaud Floyd (5’11, 190, So.) Last Week: 1/ 3 — 16 yards

Johnathon Johnson had a 75-yard touchdown that tied the game early in the fourth quarter.

At least two of the missed targets to Johnson were bad passes by Lock.

Tight End:

  • Jason Reese (6’5, 250, Sr.)
  • Kendall Blanton (6’6, 260, Jr.)
  • OR Albert Okwuegbunam (6’5, 260, RSFr.) Last Week: 0/1

Albert Ok had 1 catch on three targets — including the very last attempt into the endzone as time expired, but otherwise #TightEndPassGame once again was absent.

Jason Reese didn’t even get to play his usual half-back/fullback role, as that was taken by converted senior lineman Alec Abeln — now wearing #49.

Offensive line

Left Tackle:

  • Yasir Durant (6’7, 340, So.)
  • Tyler Howell (6’8, 330, Sr.)

Durant once again gets the start and most of the snaps over a healthy Tyler Howell. Take from that what you will.

Left Guard:

  • Kevin Pendleton (6’4, 330, Jr.)
  • Adam Ploudre (6’4, 315, Sr.)

Pendleton had one bone-headed mistake — a costly personal foul that killed a Missouri drive early in the second quarter.

Center:

  • Trystan Castillo (6’4, 315, RSFr.)
  • Jonah Dubinski (6’2, 295, So.)

Right Guard:

  • Tre’Vour Simms (6’5, 340, So.)
  • AJ Harris (6’4, 310, So.)

Right Tackle:

  • Paul Adams (6’6, 315, Jr.)
  • Samson Bailey (6’4, 295, Jr.)

To my eyes, Missouri’s line still struggles to make holes for the running backs and still has issues picking up pass rushers/blitzes — does anyone else see what I’m seeing?

Defense

Defensive line

Rush End:

  • Marcell Frazier (6’5, 265, Sr.) Last Week: 1 tackle
  • Chris Turner (6’4, 250, Fr.)

Defensive End:

  • Jordan Harold (6’2, 255, Sr.) Last Week: 1 tackle
  • Nate Anderson (6’0, 265, Jr.) Last Week: 1 tackle
  • OR Tre Williams (6’5, 250 R-Fr.) Last Week: 1 tackle, 1 QB hurry

Missouri’s four listed DEs combined for four tackles.

Any interesting note that Tre Williams got some more reps against Kentucky. Hopefully that means he’s figuring things out.

Nose Tackle:

  • Markell Utsey (6’4, 305, So.) Last Week: 1 tackle, 1 sack
  • Walter Palmore (6’4, 320, Jr.) Last Week: 0 — 0
  • Kobie Whiteside (6’1, 300, Fr.) Last Week: 0 — 0

Utsey had his first career sack but also committed two offsides penalties. The youth on this defensive line is still struggling to have any impact (even though I really enjoyed Kobie Whiteside jumping offside, realizing it, and then trying to hit Kentucky’s QB anyway).

Defensive Tackle:

  • Terry Beckner Jr. (6’4, 305, Jr.) Last Week: 2 tackles, 1 QB hurry
  • Rashad Brandon (6’3, 300, Jr.) Last Week: 2 tackles
  • Akial Byers (6’3, 260, Fr.) Last Week: 0 — 0

Terry Beckner is really good, y’all. It’s a shame he’s stuck carrying the load.

Linebackers

Weakside Linebacker:

  • Terez Hall (6’2, 230, Jr.) Last Week: 12 tackles, 2.5 TFLs, 1 PBU
  • Joey Burkett (6’2, 230, Sr.) Last Week: 0 — 0

Terez Hall is showing us he’s the linebacker we all hoped he’d turn into when Barry Odom fought tooth and nail for him to stay committed on National Signing Day.

Middle Linebacker:

  • Cale Garrett (6’3, 235, So.) Last Week: 6 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 INT
  • Eric Beisel (6’3, 245, Sr.) Last Week: 0 — 0

Cale Garrett had a good game but was victimized a few times by the slot receiver 1-on-1 matchup that seems to get every Mizzou middle linebacker — but the 64-yard touchdown was because of safety Thomas Wilson’s bad angles.

Sam/Nickel defender:

  • Kaleb Prewett (6’1, 210, Jr.) Last Week: 5 tackles
  • OR Brandon Lee (6’2, 225, Jr.) Last Week: 5 tackles

Brandon Lee actually got the start over Kaleb Prewett at linebacker and had a strong game in my opinion. I’d been arguing he’s better at linebacker and that Prewett would be better as a strong safety for a while. Perhaps the coaches are listening.

Secondary

Cornerback:

  • DeMarkus Acy (6’2, 185, So.) Last Week: 1 tackle, 0.5 TFL (ejected)
  • Jerod Alton (5’10, 185, R-FR.) Last Week: 0—0
  • Finis Stribling (5’11, 195, Jr.) Last Week: 1 tackle

DeMarkus Acy was ejected after a rather frustrating targeting penalty was called:

Redshirt freshman Jerod Alton was called on to fill in briefly before being replaced by Adam Sparks.

Cornerback:

  • Logan Cheadle (5’10, 185, Sr.) Last Week: 3 tackles, 1 PBU
  • Adam Sparks (6’0, 175, Fr.) Last Week: 6 tackles
  • OR Anthony Hines (6’1, 200, Sr.) Last Week: 0 — 0

Cheadle had a nice pass breakup on an endzone shot, but it seems to me that he can’t be relied on to be Mizzou’s #1 cornerback.

How did Adam Sparks look to you guys?

Safety:

  • Ronnell Perkins (6’0, 200, So.) Last Week: 10 tackles, 1 TFL
  • Anthony Sherrils (6’0, 190, Sr.) Last Week: (did not travel — Concussion protocol)
  • Tavon Ross (6’0, 210, R-Jr.) Last Week: 1 tackle

Perkins got the start because Anthony Sherrils was out with a concussion. Perkins looked okay in run support, but the fact that he’s making so many tackles is a problem.

Safety:

  • Thomas Wilson (5’10, 195, Sr.) Last Week: 2 tackles, 1 PBU
  • Cam Hilton (6’0, 185, Jr.) Last Week: 1 tackle
  • OR Jordan Ulmer (6’2, 195) Last Week: 0—0

Hey look! Jordan Ulmer is back!

The entire secondary needs seasoning.

Special Teams

Kicker:

  • Tucker McCann (6’0, 205, So.)

Last Week: 4/4 on XPs — 2/ 4 on FGs: missed 38 yard, made 27, made 25, 45 yard blocked — 1 kickoff went out of bounds

Punter:

  • Corey Fatony (5’11, 205, Jr.)

Last Week: 2 punts for 102 yards, long of 52

Despite not getting much action, Fatony’s still good!

Kick Returner:

  • Richaud Floyd (5’11, 190, So.) Last Week: 3 for 65 yards, avg 22
  • Larry Rountree (5’11, 215, Fr.) Last Week: 1 for 35 yards,

Punt Returner:

  • There weren’t any punt returners listed?

Long Snapper:

  • James Workman (6’0, 215, So.) Last Week: multiple botched snaps
  • OR Drew Wise (6’2, 325, Fr.) Last Week: 0—0
