Aarion Penton and Josh Augusta standing out at East-West Shrine Game practice

Here are today’s Mizzou Links.

Practices for the East-West Shrine Game began yesterday, and two former Mizzou defenders didn’t waste time trying to stand out. Cornerback Aarion Penton (clocking in at 5’9, 180) and tackle Josh Augusta (6’3, 365!) both made the highlight reel after one day. And Penton is just a bit amped about it.

Penton was ninth in the country with 17 passes defensed in 2016 — five picks and 12 breakups.

Meanwhile...

Augusta had one of the more unique stat lines we’ll ever see in 2016: 15 solo tackles, eight assists, four tackles for loss, a sack, a breakup ... and two rushing touchdowns.

Good luck to both of them.

Other Links

  • Offensive lineman Tanner Owen has left the team. Never could stay healthy, it seemed.
  • Mizzou’s going to have to fight to keep a hold on receiver commit Elijah Gardiner. He just got a huge in-state offer.
