After recording four sacks as a rookie second-rounder, former Mizzou defensive end Markus Golden headed into 2016 with reasonable expectations. I’m going to go ahead and say that he met them.

Golden ended his second season with 12½ sacks, among the NFL leaders and next to big names like Von Miller and Khalil Mack.
“It means a lot to me because I worked hard,” Golden said. “I’ve been working hard my whole life. I was that kid that really wanted to go to the NFL, and training as a kid to make it to the NFL. To get here and be able to be a part of the elite names, that’s good, and it’s more motivation, but it’s something I knew I could do.”
Nobody works harder than Golden, and despite a bit of a ‘tweener situation — he was a DE in Columbia but is more of an OLB in the pros — he has quickly shined. He has also padded his lead over another former Tiger, Shane Ray, who finished the regular season with eight sacks for the Broncos and now has 12 for his career.
