It’s just a damn shame it’s worked out this way for Kim Anderson

Sad Study Hall time.

NCAA Basketball: Kentucky at Missouri Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Your Trifecta: Phillips-Hughes-Puryear

So ... I’m out of town. I didn’t watch this game. I’m not going to watch this game. I’m just going to share the stats and say this: It really is a shame it hasn’t worked out for Kim Anderson. It clearly hasn’t. It clearly isn’t going to.

A lot of Mizzou fans were super-wary of the hire from the start, but I would assume that even the most pessimistic fans thought he would win a hell of a lot more than 26 games in three years. No matter what level of mess he inherited, no matter anything ... it’s going to end soon. That’s a little bit exciting, but right now, it’s just disappointing. “Small-school coach goes big-time and brings his alma mater to glory” is a great story. It didn’t happen.

Anyway. There was a game last night.

When you shoot basically the same on 2-pointers and 3-pointers, that’s probably usually a good thing. It probably means you shot 3s well. It doesn’t usually mean that you made one-fourth of your 2-pointers. That’s incredible. A&M was rather average from a shooting perspective, but Mizzou was so bad from the floor that nothing else mattered. This was the NC Central game against a better team.

Fate should not allow a senior to shoot 0-for-7 from the field on senior night. Sorry it ended that way, Russell Woods.

Sorry it’s ending this way, Kim Anderson.

Two more games to go, basically. Then it’s coaching search time.
