Mizzou Baseball faces elimination in SEC Tournament following a loss to LSU

Here are today’s Mizzou Links.

Mizzou Baseball used up its pitching mojo in Knoxville, evidently, and it caught up to the Tigers on Wednesday in Hoover. Following a 12-7 win over Texas A&M that got them into the main field to play LSU, they allowed another 10 runs and fell in a rain-delayed 10-3 decision.

TJ Sikkema gave up five earned runs in 4.1 innings, and after Mizzou cut LSU’s lead to 6-2 in the eighth, the other Tigers responded with four more runs (three off of Brian Sharp) to put the game out of reach.

Mizzou has still never beaten LSU at baseball.

Next up: an elimination game against South Carolina at approximately 4:30 pm CT today. Last weekend’s hero, Cole Bartlett, will get the start. Mizzou took two of three from South Carolina at home two weekends ago. The Tigers likely need at least one more win to feel more comfortable about their NCAA Tournament chances.
