Ah, summer school. The campus is quiet, you can actually maybe find a place to park downtown for lunch, and stories like this evade notice for more than 24 hours. Apparently late on Saturday night/early on Sunday morning, a dude had a joy ride, like, inside of Mizzou Arena.
An investigation revealed a person drove a vehicle through a closed gate on the south side of the arena and through a closed garage door that led into the dock area.
Police say the driver then went into the arena and struck a couple of golf carts before leaving through the same dock door.
They say the driver then drove through the press gate on the back side of the arena and left.
Police say they developed a suspect identified as Nathaniel Conant. They say Conant turned himself in just before 4:00pm Sunday.
MUPD says it's still working on a damage estimate, but says it anticipates it could be around $100,000 dollars.
AN INDOOR JOY RIDE. HE WENT ON AN INDOOR JOY RIDE. AND DID $100,000 OF DAMAGE. AND WE DIDN’T HEAR ABOUT IT FOR ALMOST A DAY AND A HALF.
Back in 2010, Rock M Nation supported Zou Crew shirts that said “DEFEND THE ARENA” on the back.

I had no idea we needed to literally defend the arena from attack. It was supposed to be a figure of speech.
More as this unfolds. Obviously.
UPDATE: PHOTOS.
The media gate is trashed at Mizzou Arena. I guess that's what happens when you drive a Volkswagen through it. pic.twitter.com/pROxpD2iJx

Here are @columbiatribune pics of damage at Mizzou Arena. Mostly smashed gates, few dinged up golf carts inside, one skid mark on the court. pic.twitter.com/ph4o54IQhm
