The hype for Missouri’s 2017-18 basketball season does not appear to be slowing down. Remember a couple of months ago, when we were freaking out a bit about the Tigers having 28/1 national title odds? Yeah, it’s 16/1 now.

That appears to be from VegasInsider.com. Those are the eighth-best odds in the country.
- 6/1: Michigan State
- 7/1: Duke, North Carolina
- 8/1: Arizona, Kentucky
- 12/1: Kansas
- 14/1: Villanova
- 16/1: Missouri
The seven teams above Mizzou averaged a 30-7 record and No. 12 KenPom ranking. The Tigers were 8-24 and No. 156.
I’ll just go ahead and repeat what I said back in April:
The reasons for Missouri’s change in potential fortune are obvious. The Tigers hired a new coach (Cuonzo Martin), signed the top recruit in the country (Michael Porter Jr.), and are threatening to sign more blue-chippers. That will indeed change your outlook a lot. But ... this is jarring. In the best possible way, of course.
