On Tuesday afternoon, Pro Football Focus released its lists of the best offensive and defensive players of the week in the SEC. Four Missouri players made the cut, including the players with the best grades on each side of the ball.

Tiger running back Damarea Crockett (18 carries, 202 yards) and slot receiver Johnathon Johnson (five catches, 116 yards) each made the offensive team of the week, and Crockett’s 91.5 rating was the highest of the week.

On defense, defensive tackle Rashad Brandon and cornerback Logan Cheadle each made the list, and Brandon’s 90.8 was the highest. Brandon recorded 2.5 tackles for loss and a sack against MSU, while Cheadle had an interception and appeared responsible for few of Mizzou’s defensive breakdowns. That’s a sentiment shared by defensive backs coach Ryan Walters:
#Mizzou secondary coach Ryan Walters says CBs Cheadle & Sparks only secondary players who graded out well vs. Missouri St.

Mizzou escaped Week 1 with minimal injuries and plenty of question marks. But it could have been worse if the Tigers hadn’t had the two most effective players in the league.
