Depth chart analysis
Hall and Brown’s recoveries aren’t progressing as quickly as Missouri fans hoped. Drew Lock didn’t look so good in Missouri’s 29-point loss to Alabama, and while one could blame that on the quarterback himself, it’s hard to get over the fact neither of his top two receivers were available for a third straight game. Coincidentally, the Tigers have lost each of those contests. Saturday’s homecoming game brings up an eery similarity to 2016’s Middle Tennessee game, as Missouri will face a scrappy mid-major team in Memphis. Lock has been working more with his new top-two wide-outs for the past three or so weeks now, and hopefully for Tiger fans, the chemistry will show out against Memphis.
Richaud Floyd moved from third-string slot receiver to second-string wide receiver. Sure, this move may have been made in lieu of the Hall and Brown injuries. But he’s the most experienced receiver on Missouri’s roster, and a veteran presence on the field is important for a team that finds itself in a three-game losing streak. One has got to bet Floyd will get on these true freshmen pass-catchers this week in order to change the Tigers’ momentum.
