Depth chart analysis

Even though Nate Brown seems to be healthy, true freshman Jalen Knox will start over him opposite Emanuel Hall. Who saw this coming at the beginning of the season? If you did, Venmo request me $20 — you deserve it. Knox has had a breakout season this year, earning himself two SEC Freshman of the Week awards for his performances against Purdue and Memphis. The true freshman has led all Missouri receivers in yards and is second in receptions since Hall’s injury, filling in more than admirably. It’s obvious Knox’s future looks very bright.

Akial Byers gets the starting not at defensive end over Tre Williams. Byers has seen a lot of playing time in the past two games and had a very solid game in Missouri’s upset win over Florida Saturday, notching a career-high six tackles and a quarterback hurry. The Tigers’ defense has been much-improved as of late, and it looks like defensive coordinator Ryan Walters is sticking with what’s been working.
