WELP ... Mizzou takes on Vanderbilt in Nashville tonight in a game I, uh, would highly recommend winning.
Mizzou Men’s Basketball (18-11, 8-8) heads to Nashville, Tennessee, on Tuesday, Feb. 27, to face Vanderbilt (11-18, 5-11). Tipoff is at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN2 and the Tiger Radio Network. Last time out against Vanderbilt, it was all Tigers at Mizzou Arena last season as the Black & Gold took down the Commodores by a score of 72-52 (Feb. 11, 2017).
Joe Lunardi says Mizzou needs two wins, any two wins, to feel good about its tourney chances. One could quite possibly be enough, too, but uh, yeah. Let’s try two.
Oh yeah, and that Michael Porter Jr. guy might play at some point.
The 6-foot-10 freshman phenom was cleared to return to all basketball-related activities on Thursday and only got one short practice in before the team’s Saturday game at Kentucky. Martin said after the game that Porter would practice with the team more before Tuesday’s game, but it remains to be seen when he suits up for Missouri. If the Tigers could get 10 to 15 minutes of playing time from Porter against Vanderbilt, it could go a long way in preparing him and Missouri for the postseason. Martin has said Porter won’t play until he signs off on it along with his doctors, trainers, staff and everyone involved. If Porter comes out of the tunnel in uniform Tuesday, things could get interesting.
In the still-hilariously-bunched SEC, Mizzou would be the No. 7 seed in the conference tournament — one game behind a four-team tie for third and one game ahead of a three-way tie for ninth. Guh. Win two. That sounds awesome.
