Matt Harris will have plenty on last nights men’s win over Vanderbilt later, but in the meantime a H-U-G-E Congratulations to Sophie Cunningham who was named to the SEC All Conference team for the second year in a row.

For the second year in a row, Missouri’s Sophie Cunningham earned first-team All-Southeastern Conference honors for both the coaches’ and media team. She’s the program’s first back-to-back first-team all-conference selection since Evan Unrau made the All-Big 12 team in 2003-04 and MU’s fourth all-time to earn first-team honors in multiple seasons. Joni Davis (1984-85) and Renee Kelly (1986-87) were both back-to-back first-team All-Big Eight selections.
She was just a couple votes shy of player of the year, which went to A’ja Wilson of South Carolina for the third consecutive year. A’ja is a senior and Sophie is just a junior so she’ll have a fair shot next year to capture player of the year. Either way, congrats to her, and congrats to Jordan Frericks who nabbed second team honors.

The Women’s SEC Tournament starts today with Arkansas facing Vanderbilt in the opener, and Ole Miss and Florida in the other game. Missouri will face the winner of the Gators & Rebels in hopes of capturing their first SEC Conference tournament win in the night cap on Thursday.
Missouri is the six seed through a complicated series of tie breakers but will be favored in their opening round game as they’ve already beaten both squads (although their win over the Gators was only by a few points).
