It’s been a little while since Barry Odom and Missouri secured a commitment in the 2020 class, but on Tuesday, the Tigers received two commitments within five minutes of each other.

Enter: Tyler Jones and Jaylon Carlies, teammates from West Orange (Fla.) High School.

Jones and Carlies are listed as a three-star safety and a three-star receiver, respectively. Carlies, though, has been recruited by Missouri as a defensive back, which might explain why defensive coordinator Ryan Walters was listed in his announcement on Twitter.

Jones has been on the Tigers’ radar for quite awhile, taking his official visit back on June 14 before committing almost five months later. Carlies’ timeline was less spread out, taking his official visit on October 5, the day Missouri beat Troy.

With both in the fold — and assuming Carlies does indeed come to Columbia as a defensive back — Odom and Co. have bolstered their defense with a two new weapons in the secondary.
