Missouri football adds two commitments on National Signing Day

Regardless of last week’s recruiting sanctions, the Tigers were able to fill out their 2019 recruiting class.

Heading into Wednesday, Missouri looked to fill out its 2019 recruiting class with a few defensive prospects.

The Tigers’ main targets? 3-star JUCO DE/OLB Sci Martin out of East Mississippi Community College, 3-star DE Steven Linton out of Dublin (Ga.) and 2-star DE Z’Core Brooks out of Woodrow Wilson (Texas). Missouri wasted little time in adding two of the three recruits, getting commitments from Brooks and Martin and ending its day before 9:30 a.m.

Brooks, listed as a strongside DE by Rivals, received a last-minute offer Tuesday from the Tigers. The 6-foot-6, 225 pound prospect is seen as a work-in-progress by Missouri’s coaching staff, but the team is high on his potential on the edge. Brooks chose the Tigers over multiple other offers, notably Purdue and Oklahoma State, both Missouri’s opponents in 2018.

Martin was a former LSU recruit in 2016, playing five games and tallying two tackles. He didn’t play in 2017 and transferred to East Mississippi CC for the 2018 season, where he recorded 36 tackles, 6.5 sacks and three forced fumbles in 11 games. Martin, a 6-foot-4, 240 pound DE/OLB spurned offers from Arkansas and Kansas to sign with the Tigers, becoming Missouri’s second commitment on National Signing Day and the 25th commitment in its newest class.

With Brooks and Martin’s commitments, the Tigers’ 2019 class moved a spot above Baylor to No. 32 in the nation (according to Rivals).
