Mizzou makes the final four for Kobe Brown with a decision coming Tuesday

Here are today’s Mizzou Links.

There isn’t much talk about Mizzou Basketball Recruiting these days, but there was a small nugget of news yesterday.

3-star 6’7 Wing Kobe Brown is down to 4 teams, and Mizzou is one of them

If you don’t feel like watching the short video I’ll give you the results: The Final Four are Vanderbilt, Penn State, Minnesota, Mizzou. I’m skeptical of Mizzou’s chances for a variety of reasons. First, Brown has had a LOT of chances to pick Missouri before now and he hasn’t. Since Martin had an in-home visit with Brown he’s visited Vanderbilt and Penn State.

Next, Brown thinks of himself as a combo guard, but he’s far more likely a combo forward and I can guarantee Mizzou is pitching him on that role. So if you settle in the middle, the Tigers are kind of loaded up on the wing, while Vandy needs bodies and Penn State does too. I also think there are more minutes available in Minny as well.

But if there’s a ‘for’ factor here, Mizzou has been in the mix the longest. They had Brown in for an official visit in the fall and have been involved longer than anyone (Minnesota offered about the same time — but you get the idea).

If I had to guess, I’d guess Penn State. He’s been there recently, and seemingly could fit well with Pat Chambers. Plus I think Brown is a good fit in the Big10. He’s sort of a moderately athletic jumbo wing who can make shots. I’m just not sure if the SEC is the best fit. But we’ll find out on Tuesday, when Brown makes his announcement.

If you want to hear me talk about Mizzou Hoops, I did a podcast with Brandon Kiley of

Subscribe to Brandon’s Podcast, he does a great job, and I’m not just saying that because he gave me a weirdly nice introduction.
