Reviewing the 2018-2019 school year’s biggest stories
It may not officially be summer, but the calendar has flipped to June, meaning we’re officially in the dead zone for college sports content! Hurray!
Of course, there will be plenty to cover this summer, but there’s also a lot to look back on from this past school year. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch got it all done on one Sunday by posting their Top 10 stories of the year along with their individual superlatives from across the athletic department.
There’s a lot more to parse in these stories, and it would be bad form to go through their selections one-by-one. However, it does provide an opportunity to go through some of these thought exercises ourselves. So we’ll ask you, Rock M Nation: What would you choose for the best (or biggest) stories of the year and who would get your superlatives?
Here are my choices:
Biggest Story of the Year: NCAA sanctions Mizzou football, baseball and softball
BEST Story of the Year: Sophie Cunningham’s swan song
Female Athlete of the Year: Sophie Cunningham (duh)
Male Athlete of the Year: Drew Lock (predictable, but also accurate)
If you’ve got any other superlatives to hand out, feel free to let loose in the comments!

- PowerMizzou did a scouting report on Caleb Love ($$) and covered the Dominique Johnson commitment. In addition, there’s a lot of other interesting stuff on their forums — of course you have to be a member to get access!
- Max Scherzer’s trademark intensity was on display yesterday, and people (rightfully) lost their minds over it.
- The MLB Draft kicks off today, and Bleacher Report has OF Kameron Misner going late in the first round.
- Jim Sterk was Andrew Kauffman’s guest on Sports Zone this week, and there’s sure to be talk about the school year gone by and alcohol at games!
