Opening the season on the road is never easy, but that’s the task at hand for Barry Odom and his Tigers. Follow along for updates as Missouri takes on Wyoming.
Pregame notes: Some true freshmen who made the trip to Laramie: Maurice Massey, Martez Manuel, Jalani Williams, Connor Bazelak, Niko Hea (plus a few more). We’ll just have to wait and see if they actually hit the field for the Tigers today.
Missouri-Wyoming football: Live updates, score, analysis
Final: Wyoming 37, Mizzou 31. Bryant and Co. drove all the way to Wyoming’s 20 but couldn’t finish it off. Missouri drops to 0-1 on the year and officially won’t be an 8-0 team when it heads to Athens to face Georgia.
6:19 Q4: We officially have a nail-biter. Bryant and Nance connect once again, this time for 53 yards down the right sideline, and Missouri has cut the lead to six. What looked like a lost cause just a few minutes ago is suddenly a one-score game.
13:29 Q4: Richaud Floyd returns a punt 43 yards — not sure how long it’s been since Missouri picked up a return that long — and the Tigers quickly reaches the end zone on a one-yard rush by Tyler Badie. First Missouri touchdown since the first quarter. Wyoming still leads 34-24.
10:04 Q3: Missouri takes the ball all the way to the red zone, but an Albert O OPI and a Bryant interception erases any chance of a scoring opportunity. Tigers’ defense will head back out onto the field to try to slow down Wyoming.
Halftime: Wyoming 27, Mizzou 17. That was as bad of a second quarter as Mizzou has put together in a while, but it is still halftime. A few mistakes have really cost the Tigers, but they’re looking to take back over in the second half.
2:11 Q2: Tucker McCann kicks one in from 22 yards out. Missouri allowed Wyoming to snag the lead but McCann ties in back up at 17.
End Q1: Missouri will punt to start the second quarter, but that was a pretty convincing first quarter. Tigers still lead 14-0, but don’t expect the score to get much closer before halftime.
3:19 Q1: Larry Rountree III runs one in from two yards out for a touchdown. Play was reviewed but the referees ultimately ruled it a TD. 14-0 Mizzou lead.
7:46 Q1: Missouri’s defense forces back-to-back punts. Looking solid to start the first couple of drives.
9:04 Q1: Bryant connects with Jonathan Nance for a 3-yard touchdown. First TD in Missouri uniforms for both players. Tigers lead 7-0.
9:09 Q1: Barry Odom calls timeout with Missouri on 3rd and goal. Kelly Bryant, Larry Rountree III and Tyler Badie have all picked up 1st downs on this drive.
