With COVID-19 throwing wrenches into all kinds of scheduling plans, College Basketball teams have had to be as flexible as possible when it comes to finding an opponent that is COVID-free and available.
Without anyone on Mizzou’s confirmed schedule until Sunday thanks to multiple teams bowing out of a “Bubbleville” Multiple Team Event in Connecticut, Mizzou scrambled to find a matchup against the Oregon Ducks.
The Ducks have yet to play a game after having their season opener against Eastern Washington postponed due to the Eagles not having enough available players. It was rumored Missouri and Oregon would meet up in the previously mentioned “Bubbleville” event, also involving Boston College. Those games fell through and it looks like the Ducks and Tigers maintained interest in each other, and worked out a game in Omaha, Nebraska this Wednesday.
From the MUTigers.com Press Release:
Mizzou Men’s Basketball has added a matchup with No. 20 Oregon on Wednesday, Dec. 2, in Omaha, Nebraska. The Tigers and Ducks will square off at 8 p.m. CT on the Fox Sports 1.
The game is being played at CHI Health Center Omaha and no fans will be in attendance.
Mizzou is 5-0 all-time against Oregon, beating the Ducks, 106-69, in 2009, and 83-80 in 2010. This will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs on a neutral court.
Head Coach Dana Altman has his Oregon team rated 18th in KenPomeroy’s ratings, and 21st in the Associated Press poll, so this game should pose a significant challenge for the Tigers who are trying to build momentum after a rough few seasons.
So with Oregon officially on the docket, and a road game at Wichita State on Sunday, as long as Liberty stays healthy, Mizzou has their next three opponents lined up.
The game will be televised at 8pm on FS1.
