Eli Drinkwitz’s success as a recruiter has been well-documented on this website — including as early as this morning. We’ve reached conclusions that Eli Drinkwitz has elevated Missouri’s profile, attracting more top tier talent while simultaneously locking down the borders in a way that we haven’t seen this century.
We didn’t need any more proof that Drinkwitz has done these things. Grabbing Tyler Macon, Taj Butts, Ryan Hoerstkamp and Travion Ford in six weeks would’ve been enough. Starting off the 2022 in-state class with blue-chipper Isaac Thompson would have been enough.
But Drinkwitz, the giver of good gifts, has seen fit to bless us once more, winning another huge recruiting battle on Friday.

The commitment of Dominic Lovett, a consensus four-star receiver and teammate of Tyler Macon, is notable because of the way it played out. Lovett has spent the past three months committed to Arizona State and was one of two ESL receivers to head west (along with Keontez Lewis.) Lovett seemed solid on that commitment until rumblings this past week suggested he wasn’t happy with the early call. It must have been a quick process because Lovett is committing just days before National Signing Day, where he’ll presumably become an official member of the 2021 class.
Seriously, if we keeping Drinking Up at this rate, we’re all going to pass out before lunch.
Get to know: Dominic Lovett
Hometown: East St. Louis, IL
High School: East St. Louis
Position: WR
Ht/Wt: 5’10”, 175 lbs
Rivals Ranking: 5.8, 4-star
247Composite Ranking: .8947, 4-star
Total announced offers: 15
Offers to note: Alabama, Arizona State, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Penn State
Lovett currently isn’t ranked on the Rivals 250 and slots in at No. 243 in 247’s national rankings. But I can confidently tell you this — if Lovett were two or three inches taller, he’d be much, much higher.
Lovett has just about everything you’d want out of a top wide receiver. He’s fast and deadly in open space. Watch him on the more vertical routes — at the high school level, it has to be pretty simple for Lovett, as he is able to burn past most corners he faces. It looks like ESL also liked to use him in a Jalen Knox role at times, getting him in motion or finding him on simple screens and letting him create.
But he’s just as deadly down the middle. While he may seem a tad undersized for a top-tier receiver, Lovett is slippery, using his agility to shed opposing tacklers with ease. If he’s able to get even a foot of separation, he’s gone. Of course, he’ll have to adjust to the more athletic defenders of the SEC, but he’s physical and quick enough for his size to make people miss.

And spawned into all of this...
This is important for Mizzou for a flurry of reasons. One, getting four-star recruits is always big for Mizzou. Two, the team needs receivers with a big group leaving after this season. Three, it continues the Eliah Drinkwitz's momentum in the St. Louis area. https://t.co/xbnlEKy1A9

With Dominic Lovett in the fold, #Mizzou now has five four-star players committed in the 2021 class — more than the team's past four classes combined. Tigers up to No. 19 in the Rivals team rankings. https://t.co/muxqdSLs60
