GAME THREAD: Mizzou hosts No. 11 Auburn

The visiting Tigers are arguably the best team in the SEC. Missouri will have to overcome a huge challenge against Auburn.

Live updates, analysis

Final: Missouri upsets Auburn 85-73. I did not expect that to happen today, but that’s an enormous win for the Tigers.

7:18 2H: In the midst of all of the referees antics today, we’ve missed that Missouri is still up double-digits. The Good Tigers lead 68-54, which isn’t something I expected to type today.

15:44 2H: Xavier Pinson picked up his third foul on what seemed like a pretty soft foul call. Had just been called for his second when he went up for a block at the rim (foul called by the ref standing by the scorer’s table). Auburn’s cut Missouri’s lead to nine.

Halftime: Missouri leads the 11th ranked team in the country 45-32 at the half. Dru Smith and Xavier Pinson have been fantastic today, but Missouri will have to stay out of foul trouble if it wants to hang on to this lead.

3:32 1H: Dru Smith and Xavier Pinson play so well off each other. They have different styles, but they mesh. They’ve combined for 23 of Missouri’s 32 points, Tigers lead by 7 with a free throw for Smith coming up.

7:43 1H: Missouri still in the lead, 21-20. Dru Smith leads all scorers with 11, even with his ankle issue. He’s been fun to watch so far.

11:43 1H: Missouri is on a 8-2 run and leads 13-12. The Good Tigers have been able to hang around with the visiting Tigers, we’ll see if that can last.

15:45 1H: Missouri trails 10-5. Mizzou is 2-for-3 from the floor but has turned it over twice. Only three fouls called so far so that’s pretty nice.

Pregame

Arguably the toughest team on Missouri’s schedule is coming to Columbia.

Auburn is tied for first place in the SEC and has the conference’s best record, and outside of a two-game losing streak a few weeks ago, the visiting Tigers have been unbeatable. Missouri will have its hands full against a veteran team that’s squeaked out four overtime wins in its last five games.
