FanPulse CBB: Are we done for a while? I honestly don’t know

Missouri’s season is obviously done, but what about FanPulse?!

NCAA Basketball: Missouri at Mississippi Petre Thomas-USA TODAY Sports

What a weird time!

Basketball got cancelled but we’re still talking about it and presenting votes when things were still going on. Missouri hasn’t played a game since we last posted but we did see one game shortly before this vote and it was the Tigers last game of the year. In that game they ran the Alabama Crimson Tide off the floor in the final 10 minutes of the game. So surely that big win shot fan confidence through the roof right?

FAN CONFIDENCE GRAPHICS

Ehhhhh, nope.

Here are the last five weeks of numbers:

  • 60%
  • 76%
  • 75%
  • 78%
  • 78%

So it stayed the same, cool.

Honestly it makes sense. Missouri’s play improved from a horrid stretch in the middle of the conference season and they stuck into 7 conference wins. So it kind of makes sense that fan confidence settled once Mizzou settled. They weren’t great but they gave you a little hope going into next year. With a little health and an added wing scorer they should be improved again next year.

Moving on to the National question...

Which conference tournament are you most looking forward to?

This is sad. It’s really really sad:

fanpulse
  • Big Ten 36%
  • ACC 21%
  • Pac-12 11%
  • SEC 10%
  • Big 12 10%
  • Big East 6%
  • Other 4%
  • AAC 2%

Each major conference got a day or two at most of their tournament before things were called by the CoronaVirus. And now we’re onto day four with no basketball! THE AGONY!

Realistically I was looking forward to the conference tournaments and I voted for the Big Ten. That was the deepest league without a real dominant regular season champion. Michigan State, Maryland, and Wisconsin all tied for the league lead at 14-6, and 12 of the 14 teams finished 30th or higher in KenPom. Only Northwestern and Nebraska were the outliers.

With that much parity within the league there were all kinds of outcomes possible. But you had to like the way Michigan State was playing down the stretch.

I might’ve voted for the SEC but if we’re being real here, the league was bad all year and I was frankly excited to watch other basketball games, since most of the time I’m watching the SEC during the season. So for me after the Big 10 I probably would have picked the Big East. Another league with a lot of good teams and solid parity.

Anyway, I’m not sure where FanPulse goes from here, management has been mum on it a bit. We’re all trying to find our way with no sports.
