Welcome back Tiger Fans to another episode of Before the Box Score. Nate Edwards and Brandon Kiley are back, talking what everyone is talking about.... football in the fall. The ACC has released plans for the upcoming season, and it looks like we have an idea about what the SEC and specifically Missouri might be dealing with.
Nate and BK also dive into some of the opponents on Mizzou’s current schedule— whether it stays that way or not remains to be seen. The SEC could create an entirely new schedule or just add conference games to the existing schedule. As we wait to find out, let’s get to the pod.
Episode Breakdown:
:15 - 10:00: The news of the day is the ACC’s plan to do a 10+1 model for this season, while Sports Illustrated is reporting that the SEC is leaning towards a 10 game, conference only schedule. Let’s dive into what that means and the pros and cons of both. The logical step for the SEC is, according to BK, a plus 1 model.
10:01 - 17:46: Nate is at the point where is he viewing this CFB season as a big ole “play as many games as you can and get the bucks.” How do you play without a bubble during these times? The issue? Athletic department money is spent at a wild rate, so adjusted spending was probably coming anyway. This just sped up that process.
17:47 - 34:55: Nate previewed two teams since we last talked and one was the Florida Gators. BK offers a glimmer of hope for Mizzou fans despite that fact that Florida is getting better since Dan Mullen took over. The other team Nate previewed was the Ragin’ Cajuns, and he really likes their coach. So much so he wanted their coach for Mizzou... badly.
34:56 - END: Final thoughts and Nate would like to send you off in the last 10 minutes with a fun thought after some doom and gloom throughout this podcast. It is a little crazy, but it involves drafting an All-Star team from your conference to take to the College Football Playoff. It could be fun! Let’s get weird this season!
