NCAA Football: Troy at Missouri Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome back, Tiger Fans, to another episode of Before the Box Score! It’s Fall Camp edition! That’s exciting given how much uncertainty there has been, and it looks like (fingers crossed) that SEC football will be played this season.

Nate and BK dive into everyone’s favorite topic, COVID-19, BUT ALSO, since you last heard from them in podcast format, a schedule was released and yikes! It is difficult, so thanks, SEC.

On top of everything going on, the NCAA decided to extend an eligibility rule that will make things complicated down the road... because of course they did. To finish up (outside of wedding advice for BK), they’ve got some camp nuggets and go over some position battles

Let’s get to it.

Episode Breakdown:

:15 - 17:45: Fall Camp and football is happening! Plenty to dive in here, and the Coronavirus is one of them, BUT we are still going to have football for now. The SEC medical officials have cleared teams for practice but not yet games, but it does feel like they will be playing according to BK. Since the last chat, the official schedule is here and WOOF! Let’s break that down. Feels good to talk about a schedule, huh?

17:46 - 34:00: This season is weird, that much we know, but the (let’s call it odd) ruling the NCAA has decided upon when it comes to eligibility is not the best when you get down into the details. The NCAA is super questionable when it comes to decision making. BK reveals a dirty little secret when it comes to some scholarships.

34:01 - 42:50: This is a cash grab, that much everyone has understood. Schools are being relatively transparent when it comes to that lately and the schools do need the money, so there is that. Whether you agree with it or not, it’s a topic of conversation. Also, how do you go about rescheduling, canceling games, etc this year if there is an outbreak within a team? College kids are doing college kid things, which should not come as a surprise to many, but you have to be smart with this stuff.

42:51 - 59:15: That does it for the COVID talk. As was stated at the beginning of the pod, camp is going on, so that means there are some position groups to talk about! Who excites us the most? What are some of the position battles? What do we think about “earning” your number? Plus, some other fun takeaways.

59:16 - END: Final thoughts, AND that includes wedding advice for BK. If you have any, he is open to ideas if you hit him up on twitter @BkSportsTalk. Outside of that, we’ll see you next time!
