Final: Mizzou-19 Alabama-38

The Tigers open the season with a loss to the #2 team in the country, The Alabama Crimson Tide. Though the Tigers certainly didn’t play perfect, there were signs of promise to build off for the remainder of the season. They also covered the spread. On to Tennessee in week two. #MIZ

0:00 4Q: Though it doesn’t mean much, Bazelak runs it in to make the final score 38-19.

3:36 4Q: Though Mizzou managed to force an Alabama punt, return kicker, Barrett Banister muffed the ball and Alabama would recover on Mizzou’s 18 yard line, nearly sealing this one up. Alabama used that opportunity to milk the clock before kicking a field goal. 38-13 Tide with just over two minutes.

8:28 4Q: Just like that, the Tigers score a touchdown! Shawn Robinson to Tyler Badie for a 54 yard touchdown. Only took 35 seconds after the forced fumble. With just over eight minutes to go, the Tigers trail by 3 scores. Do you believe in miracles?

9:03 4Q: Alabama Head Coach, Nick Saban elected to put in backup QB, Bryce Young late in the third quarter. Despite the freshman’s lack of experience, the Tide quite literally rolled down the field, mostly thanks to Young’s precision passing. Perhaps the highlight of the night would come at the end of Alabama’s drive when Young was strip-sacked by Tre Williams and Nick Bolton would recovered the ball.

1:09 3Q: Mizzou’s second drive of the half showed promise. Thanks to some hard running by Rountree and a successful fourth down conversion, the Tigers would find themselves deep in Tide territory. The drive would result in a field goal attempt, however after Robinson took a 16 yard sack on third and goal from the 4 yard line. The 37 yard field goal from Mevis sailed through the uprights, 36-6.

11:52 Q3: The start of the second half begins rather poorly for the Tigers. A botched play results in a fumble in Tiger territory that Alabama would recover. The Tide wasted very little time in finding the end zone after that turnover. Najee Harris coverts on the play, quickly grabbing his third touchdown of the game.

Halftime: The Tigers trail by 25 points headed into the locker room. You can’t act too surprised, can you? Mizzou had no answer to combat Alabama’s air raid and ground game during the first half. Additionally, the Tigers offense slacked big time. Alabama out-gained Mizzou 315-113 in the first half. If there’s any sliver of hope left in this game, the Tigers are going to have to start converting on offense. This will either end ugly or be the greatest second half of college football you’ve ever seen.

1:38 2Q: Jones connects yet again with Jaylen Waddle in the end zone for the second time tonight. The Crimson Tide lead 28-3.

2:32 2Q: Mizzou’s Markell Utsey is shaken up following a play. Alabama is deep in Tiger Territory and look to blow the game out of reach before heading to the locker room for halftime.

6:00 2Q: Connor Bazelak is in at QB to begin the second quarter. RB Tyler Badie managed to pick up a first down on the ground but the Crimson Tide force would get the ball back. Robinson would appear under center for the next Tiger drive, where he managed to put together a decent series, driving all the way to the redzone. Mizzou would ultimately bring out kicker, Harrison Mevis who converted a 27 yard field goal. The Tigers won’t be shutout today folks. 21-3

14:38 2Q: Jones finds Waddle yet again for a Crimson Tide touchdown, but the play is reviewed and overturned. Harris gets the call to finish off a solid drive. 21-0 Tide.

End 1Q: The first quarter comes to an end and the Crimson Tide are looking to strike again. The Tigers had no answer for Alabama RB Najee Harris that quarter. If they are going to have any chance in this ballgame, that has to change. Offensively, the Tigers looked a bit stale. Robinson had a few nice completions but the Tigers’ WRs aren’t getting the ideal amount of separation right now.

4:14 1Q: Jones launches an absolute bomb to Jalen Waddle for a 46 yard completion. Jones and Waddle reconnect two plays later in the end zone. 14-0 Alabama.

5:33 1Q: Shawn Robison to Jalen Knox for a 23 yard pass play and the first, first down of the season. The Tigers are faced with a 4th and 2 but Drinkwitz elects to go for it and they come up short. Bama gets the ball back on their own 34.

7:46 1Q: Mac Jones completes a deep pass to put the Crimson Tide in Tiger territory. Najee Harris contributed with a 13 yard run and then Jones’s pass to Devonta Smith puts the Crimson Tide 1st and goal. Harris punches it in from the 1 yard line. 7-0 Alabama.

10:11 1Q: Jarvis Ware is shaken up trying to complete a tackle and had to be walked off the field.

13:00 1Q: Shawn Robinson takes the first snap of the season. The tigers also go three and out to begin the season, followed by a 40 yard punt by Mckinniss.

14:13 1Q: Alabama goes a quick three and out to start the ball game. Sam Johnson on to punt and a fair catch from Missouri. The Drinkwitz era is about to begin.

15:00 1Q: Mizzou has won the coin flip and elected to kick to Alabama...here we go.
