Welcome back Tiger Fans to another episode of Before the Box Score with Nate Edwards and Brandon Kiley. Nate and BK start off the pod by talking fall camp and some injury issues (including some COVID problems) that seem to be plaguing the Tigers right now.

But it’s not all bad news: Another big-time commitment means a little recruiting talk! Drinkwitz and Co. continue to roll on the recruiting trail after picking up 4-star defensive end Kyran Montgomery. The pair also dive into what they’d like to see against Alabama, as well as some general thoughts on news and notes out of camp. To wrap it all up, Nate and BK do a fun exercise about who they would draft from the Big 10 and Pac-12 to play for their team if that was allowed! Some fun stuff.

Episode Breakdown:

:15 - 7:55: Football has started and it is being played! Have you watched any yet? The thrashing BYU gave Navy was a rough watch, but the lack of lead up seems to be real and making it a different year. Maybe when the P5 teams start that changes, right? Also some Fall Camp nuggets from Drink including some injuries and COVID issues.

7:56 - 14:52: Drinkwitz stays HOT on the recruiting trail, which is something you just love to see. Mizzou has a 20th ranked recruiting class at the moment and he is following through on his promise of being aggressive on the recruiting front. Results on the field will only help, but this stretch is an absolute win given the circumstances and it doesn’t appear to be a fluke.

14:53 - 19:00: Alabama week 1 (and really the first three weeks of the season) is just a rough start for a team with so many question marks. What do YOU want to see out of the Tigers come week 1?

19:01 - 34:12: Happy D-Line week! Let’s talk a bunch of D-Line thoughts and is this the year someone finally pops on the edge? This is a rebuild and holdovers that might take advantage of that extra year of eligibility would not help the development of the younger Tiger players. Who will be the breakout player this year according to Nate and BK?

34:13 - 51:05: Let’s play a game! The Pac-12 and the Big 10 are not playing in the fall ICYMI. IF you were allowed to draft players from programs not playing from those conferences, who would you take? Nate and BK make their selections. Spoiler: Justin Fields is at the top of the list. Mizzou would be a PRETTY GREAT team if this was allowed.

51:06 - END: Final thoughts AND are you getting excited to see Mizzou play? A lot of us are guilty of not enjoying the games against the smaller schools to begin the season but starting the season against Alabama is a polar opposite. It’s almost here, folks. Let’s hope it happens without an interruption!
