Slow Mizzou Sports Day Means MINI LINKS!

Y’all, it was a SLOWWWWWW news day. While combing through all the normal sites for news, I kept coming up empty. It seems, perhaps, that there have been other, more pressing matters to worry about... My brain hurts, so this will be brief.

Nick Bolton was named to another All-American team. This time, it’s the Walter Camp All-America Second Team! (more info at MUTigers.com)

Both Eli Drinkwitz and Ryan Walters (via Illini site) released statements following the official announcement of Coach Walters moving on to greener other pastures. Best wishes to him. If you’re wanting to catch up on some possible names for a replacement DC, check out Josh’s list from today, or Eric Blum’s list of 10 candidates in the Columbia Tribune. And you’re a PowerMizzou subscriber, you can browse their hot board.

And in a last bit of football news, Mookie Cooper made it official!

To the Links! Here’s hoping for a turnaround tomorrow against the Cheatin’ Will Wades. And best of luck to Gymnastics & Wrestling on the starts to their seasons (technically second match up for wrestling, I know).

Various Non-Mizzou Sports News

Beyond the existential challenges college sports will have to navigate in 2021 brought on by the name, image and likeness legislation moving through the NCAA and Congress and liberalized transfer rules for athletes, the next several months for college football will be consumed by more elemental issues including how long it will be necessary to continue strict COVID-19 protocols, the feasibility of spring practice, vaccinating players and whether the fall of 2021 will truly be a return to normal.
