AP Top 25 Week 8: SEC and Big Ten lead the way with six ranked teams

In this week’s AP Top 25, Georgia remains at No. 1 after their win over Kentucky, while Purdue’s upset win over Iowa shakes things up

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: JUL 16 SEC Media Days

College Football pretty much always delivers on every Saturday. The upsets keep on coming, as a total of five ranked teams lost to unranked teams this week — none bigger than Purdue’s upset on the road over then No. 2 Iowa as the College Football Playoff picture continues its chaos.

Around the SEC, Georgia stayed unbeaten with a 30-13 win over Kentucky, handing the Wildcats their first loss of the season in the de-facto SEC East Championship game. Texas A&M jumped four spots from No. 21 to No. 17 after their 35-14 win over the Missouri Tigers, and the Florida Gators dropped out of the Top 25 after getting upset 49-42 by LSU. Also, Alabama moves up one spot after their 49-9 bounce back, shellacking win over Mississippi State, and Auburn moves back in the Top 25 at No. 19 while the Razorbacks move out.

The SEC is now tied for the Big Ten for most teams ranked with six. As of right now, Mizzou’s schedule the rest of the way in these final five games features just one ranked opponent — of course, it’s No. 1 Georgia.

Well, there are none. The slate looks very underwhelming.
