NCAA Basketball: Arkansas at Missouri Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome back to the newest episode of Dive Cuts with Sam Snelling and Matthew Harris! Last week was not great, especially after starting last week ranked 10th in the country. Mizzou traveled to Ole Miss and things did not go well to say the least and then the Tigers lost again to Arkansas on Saturday. Jeremiah Tilmon missed Saturday’s game and it looks like he will be out at least tomorrow as well.

First, we hope JT and his family are okay and all of our thoughts are with them.

Second, where does Mizzou go from here? The NCAA Tournament is still in play, but it looks a little different now after going 0-2 last week. Let’s dive in.

Episode Breakdown:

:15 - 24:30: (Stay warm, everyone!) Let’s get into the struggles from last week and a wider conversation about individual struggles on the team. All is not lost, though, right? Plus, let’s take a look at how Mizzou’s struggles also match up with where they are in terms of spending in the league (Matt’s favorite topic).

24:31 - 37:20: Missing Tilmon is less than ideal and there are some other players struggling as well, one being Mark Smith. Smith really does need to get it together if the Tigers want to have the success many believe they should have. If you look at the last 5 games, some struggles have popped up that could also paint the picture of how exactly last week happened.

37:21 - 51:59: So let’s turn the page. Georgia and South Carolina are up this week and Mizzou can ease a lot of minds by going 2-0 this week, as is expected to get back on track. What do these teams have in store for the Tigers this week?

52:59 - END: It’s time to talk the SEC Tournament, as well as Conference Tournaments as a whole this year. The NCAA’s golden goose is the NCAA Tournament. Sam and Matt dive into the issues around conferences pushing forward with their tournaments because it could just derail March Madness, which you DO NOT want. They’ll send you home on this note as it is something to ponder in the coming weeks.
