Game Thread: Tigers vs Tide

Mizzou looks to stay hot as they take on a good Alabama team

NCAA Basketball: Kentucky at Missouri Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

The top two teams in the SEC square off at Mizzou Arena today. With a win, Alabama can all but wrap up the SEC regular season title, but with a Mizzou win, they keep themselves in the race and inch closer to the Tide. Who will come out victorious in this heavyweight SEC bout?

Second Half Notes

  • This is the most impressive win the Tigers might have all year. It is a statement performance if they can polish off a 15-point win against a team that’s currently on the 1-line.
  • Mizzou seems to be winning every single hustle play.
  • The Tigers let Alabama back in the game when they continued to settle for threes. Although they’ve been shooting better recently, they can’t take 5 or 6 in a row and miss them all. It’s just bad offense that gives their opponents momentum.
  • This implosion has been awful. No matter the final score, Cuonzo has to be upset with how his team has closed this game.
  • To shoot from the line like Mizzou has today while Tilly is 3-3 is unacceptable.
  • WHAT. A. BLOCK.
  • For all of Mitch Smith’s faults, he makes plays that win basketball games, and that trait is uncanny.

First Half Notes

  • The Tigers will need to keep this fast start going and try and step on Alabama’s neck early.
  • Looks like Dru Smith is still really hot after his last game.
  • This has been a complete all-around team performance. The offense has been efficient and the defense has played fantastic. If they can do this for 40 minutes, Mizzou can compete with almost anybody.
  • The way Mizzou is running after a missed Bama three has been unstoppable.
  • The Tigers are struggling from 3, but surprisingly, it’s not affecting them too much.
  • That might be the best half that Mizzou has played all season. They never let Alabama get close to them.
