$$$$
It was covered by Karen Steger last week in Jim Sterk’s media session that it would be happening, but it was officially announced by Mizzou Athletics yesterday. The program has set a fundraising record from the Tiger Scholarship Fund, making a total of $55.5 million in the 2020-2021 athletic year, surpassing $50.4 million made in 2016-2017.

From Jim Sterk in the press release:
“We are incredibly grateful to the thousands of loyal Tiger Scholarship Fund members who have come alongside Mizzou Athletics in support of our student-athletes, coaches and staff through their continued generosity. Our donors have a tremendous passion for Mizzou, and to set a new record in the midst of a global pandemic speaks to their loyalty and desire to invest in our future.
“Every dollar raised by the Tiger Scholarship Fund is used to provide an outstanding academic, athletic and social experience for our student-athletes and we deeply appreciate this outpouring of financial support by our donors. Intercollegiate athletics is in the midst of great change and it will be critical that we continue to grow our donor base in future years in order to provide resources necessary four our teams to compete for conference and national championships.”
From the Deputy AD Ryan Alpert:
“On behalf of Mizzou student-athletes, coaches and staff, I would like to extend thanks to all of our fans who made a commitment to support the Tiger Scholarship Fund and contributed to this record-breaking year. This extraordinary display of support from Mizzou fans is both inspiring and humbling to all of us who love the Tigers, and provides great momentum as we look toward the future.”
In what was considered a successful 2020-2021 athletic season, Mizzou finished 48th in the final Learfield Director’s Cup Standings. Missouri also produced a school record of 18 sports that participated in the 2020-2021 postseason, with six of those sports finishing in the Top 25 at the end of their seasons.
Moving on.....SEC Media Days is coming up next week in Birmingham, Alabama — and Mizzou announced yesterday that senior defensive lineman Akial Byers and senior offensive lineman Case Cook will be the players attending along with head coach Eli Drinkwitz. Perhaps it’s a little surprising that Connor Bazelak (or Tyler Badie?) won’t be attending. Anyway, Missouri’s day will be next Thursday.
