Libero/Defensive Specialist Alayna Pearson became Dawn Sullivan’s first transfer commit of the offseason, per her announcement today on Instagram.
Pearson appeared in 17 matches and 36 sets this season for Texas A&M as a freshman and will have three years of eligibility remaining. Her best match of the season came against Auburn in College Station, recording nine digs and two service aces.
Let’s Meet Alayna Pearson
- From: Overland Park, Kansas
- High School: Blue Valley Northwest
- Position: Libero/Defensive Specialist
- Ht: 5-6
Pearson was a highly-touted recruit coming out of high school, but saw limited action in her time with the Aggies. While her route to playing time as a libero is blocked by Maya Sands, there will be a spot open with the departure of defensive specialist Lauren Forbes. Pearson will likely be looked at to bolster the depth of the regular rotation while entering as a serving sub and member of the back row.
What they’re saying:
Missouri lands Alanna Pearson, L/DS from Overland Park, Kansas. Spent her freshman season at Texas A&M.— Noa Chen (@NoaChen888) December 25, 2023
Prepvolleyball’s new website prevents me from confirming, but it looks like she was a Top 150 recruit of her class.
Missouri didn’t use DS’s in the second half of their season but no Gedikoglu leaves a significant void in defense. Pearson will have a clear path to play but probably not at libero— Noa Chen (@NoaChen888) December 25, 2023
Former Texas A&M L/DS Alayna Pearson has committed to Missouri, per source. The Ovarland Park native (Blue Valley Northwest) appeared in 17 matches for A&M last season. With the departure of Lauren Forbes, Missouri had an opening at DS, which Pearson will compete for. @CoMoSports https://t.co/W8awmMr0XB— Adam Busack (@Kingbus5) December 25, 2023
