A Good Day to be a Missouri Tiger

Mizzou Links for Thursday, December 7

Christmas Comes Early for Mizzou Footbal!

Wednesday was a good day to be a Missouri Tiger as the football program received some early Christmas presents.

Your 2023 SEC Football Coach of the Year? Mizzou’s Eliah Drinkwitz. Josh Matejka with more on the news.

That’s what should happen when you lead your team to a 10-2 record, a No. 9 CFP ranking, and their first-ever NY6 Bowl — the same team that was projected to finish sixth in the SEC East preseason poll.

Could you have made the case for Nick Saban? Sure, but Alabama was already projected to win the SEC West in the preseason. Mizzou exceeded expectations in a big way this season — and that’s why Drinkwitz is your well-deserved SEC COY.

According to, this is Mizzou Football’s 2nd SEC Coach of the Year honor as Gary Pinkel won the award in 2014.

Mizzou players and coaches reacted to Drinkwitz’s SEC Coach of the Year honor:

In the classroom, a huge honor off the field belongs to QB1 Brady Cook — who was named SEC Football’s Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Here’s Darius Robinson, Brady Cook, Theo Wease Jr., and Eli Drinkwitz on Cody Schrader — who is fresh off winning the Burlsworth Trophy.

Schrader (alongside Burden) were named Second Team All-Americans from The Athletic:

Moving onto the recruiting side of things, Mizzou has already started their activity in the transfer portal with the big-time addition of Toriano Pride:

Plus, a good in-state win for Mizzou Women’s Basketball as they took care of business against Missouri State 81-63. Ashton Judd led the team with 20 points and the Tigers improved to 7-3 on the season heading into a date with #13 Kansas State in St. Joeseph on Saturday.

Yeah, Wednesday was a good day to be a Missouri Tiger.
