Rejoice! It’s Border War Eve!

Mizzou Links for December 8, 2023

First things first. I need to give a shoutout to Mr. Sammy Stava for taking my links off my plate for me while I have been struggling with some pretty serious health issues. Long story short, I took myself to urgent care on Saturday after I found it hard to even take a half breath of air. It was actually terrifying. No matter what I tried, I was literally gasping for air. I had to be put on oxygen and immediately taken to the ER in an ambulance. I’ve spent the last five days in the hospital in isolation with COVID-induced pneumonia and RSV. That shit is no joke, man. I appreciate Sammy very much for helping me out, and to Josh and Sam for making sure things got read and scheduled. But I’m out now and reunited with my laptop and you all, and on the mend.

All of this to say, take care of yourselves, friends.

Moving on.

Happy MU-kU Eve!

The Hy-Vee Hoops Border War Showdown is tomorrow afternoon on ESPN, and I’m looking forward to it. Is it likely Mizzou will beat the fake birds in The Phog? No, no one does.

My bud, KSHB 41 sports anchor Aaron Ladd asked an important question on the twitter on Thursday. I’m sure you saw it.

This has been a hot topic. For me, as I told our slack channel, it’s a no brainer, just as it was for BK above. You take a kU win in Lawrence and it’s not close. Here’s what I wrote:

It’s just no contest for me that winning the kU game is what I want most. Didn’t even hesitate to decide that. Now, if Mizzou football was in the playoff and one of the top 4, then perhaps I could be convinced and that just doesn’t happen for us. But I just don’t think that game as it is means anything in reflection of the season as it’s gone. If Mizzou could pull off a victory in Lawrence, that would be massive. Rivalries are fun and this one is real. I’ve hated kU my whole life! :)

What do you say, fans?

Here’s a snippet from Dennis Gates’ presser on Thursday.

And a funny gaffe from the aforementioned Aaron. Even professionals make mistakes.

Here’s our favorite Tiger, Kobe!

And another former Tiger, Rickey Paulding!

And you can listen to Matt & Sam chat up the game on a new Dive Cuts.

On to the Links! Go to hell, jayhawks
